Topic 2:He could rule the world.
他能够统治世界。(自命题练习题目)
Jem’s eyes slowly shifted their gaze towards the window in the far end of the classroom. There was absolutely nothing special about this window, but somehow Jem always found himself irresistibly looking through it and the world beyond it. It wasn’t the fact that Jem didn’t like school, or that every teacher’s voice worked better than anesthetic, but Jem somehow always had the urge to gaze outside the window and daydream about the events going on beyond these walls.
The view outside of the window was nothing special either, a few trees covering half the glass and through the branches you could just make out the parking lot packed with cars in a distance. Jem sometimes saw his own reflection on the glass. A small boy compared to all his peers, actually small enough to be blown away by the wind, he had bright sea-blue eyes, slightly too large for his head and glasses to magnify them even more, his brown hair stood in an annoyingly messy manner on his head.
Jem disliked his reflection; he wanted to look like Chris Hemsworth in Thor, or like Andrew Garfield in Spiderman. Basically Jem wanted to look like a superhero, someone who could rule the world. Jem spent most of his time daydreaming about becoming a superhero, like the ones in many books they read in English. Jem personally loved reading; he loved stories about an ordinary boy, turning into a dauntless hero.
He has it all planned out: he’d be the greatest hero of all times; he’d have the ability to sense all dangers around the world and with amazing speed; he’d fly there and save the innocent from the deadly clutch of the evil. He would wear a shining armor and have muscles that’ll make all his friends jealous. His special power would be to shoot fire from his fingers, or having laser eyes. He hadn’t figured it out yet, but he knew that all would admire him and he’d be on top of the world. His name would be known all across the globe, Jem Abel, the name of power and bravery. The crowd would cheer for him every time he took victory over the villain. Jem Abel! Jem Abel! Jem Abel! Je-
“Jem Abel!” it was his teacher, obviously annoyed with him planning his ambition. Once again he was in trouble for frivolous daydreaming in class. Jem sighed, he knew that he could rule the world, but instead he was sitting in a classroom listening to the incessant babble of numbers and words, just like every other ordinary boy.
